Barry Young River of Stories

Short Stories Competition

Conditions of entry:

● This is a competition for Primary and Secondary school students only.

● Entrants must reside within a 150 km radius of AlburyWodonga.

● Entry is free.

● All entries must be unpublished; original works composed by the entrant; and should relate to the theme ’Magic’, in some way.

● Entries must not exceed the word limit by more than 10%.

● A separate entry form must be completed for each submission.

● Names should NOT be written on the story. The name of the entrant should appear on the entry form only.

● Entries must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday 31 July 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.

  • Submissions will be accepted online only.   If you are unable to submit your entry online, please contact  LearningOutreach@alburycity.nsw.gov.au or 0260238346 to discuss alternative arrangements.

● Finalists will be invited via email to the Awards Ceremony, which will be held during the Write Around the Murray Festival on Saturday 14 September 2024 at 12.00 noon at the Albury LibraryMuseum.

● The judges reserve the right to reject works that do not comply with the guidelines above. The judging panel’s decision will be final.

● Prize recipients will have their short stories published on the Write Around the Murray website.

Conditions of entry:
