River of Stories is a writing competition for Primary and Secondary school students who reside in the Albury Wodonga region. It has been brought to the region by the Albury Hume Rotary Club since 2003.
Each year, students in Years 3 to 12 are invited to submit short stories and poems relating to a theme. The theme this year is 'Playing with story', which corresponds with the Festival theme for WAM 2022.
Students are invited to submit their entries below. Entry is free and students may submit a maximum of two poems and two short stories in their age category.
Short Story Competition
Categories: Years 3-4 & 5-6

Years 3-4: 500
Years 5-6: 1000
Prizes in each category
Winner: $50* & $300 for school library
Runners-up (x2): $25 voucher
Categories: Years 7-8, 9-10 & 11-12
Word limit
Years 7-8: 1000
Years 9-10 and 11-12: 1500
Prizes in each category
Winner: $100* & $300 for school library
Runners-up (x2): $50 voucher
* Cash prizes will come in the form of a Hume Bank account or as a deposit into an existing Hume account.
Poetry Competition
Categories: Years 3-4 & 5-6
