River of Stories is a writing competition for Primary and Secondary school students who reside in the AlburyWodonga region. It has been brought to the region by the Albury Hume Rotary Club since 2003.

Students in Years 3 to 12 are invited to submit Short Stories or Poems relating to the theme, ‘Local or Personal Stories’. Prizes for the winning writers in each category include personal prizes as well as donations to their school!


Short Story Competition

Categories: Years 3-4 & 5-6

Word limit

Years 3-4: 500
Years 5-6: 1000

Categories: Years 7-8, 9-10 & 11-12

Word limit

Years 7-8: 1000
Years 9-10 and 11-12: 1500
