The Barry Young River of Stories is a writing competition for Primary and Secondary school students who live in the Albury Wodonga region.
Students in Years 3 to 12 are invited to submit short stories or poems relating to the theme, “Magic”
Students are encouraged to think creatively about the term “magic”. For example, magic can be performed by magicians and wizards, but magic can also happen in everyday life! Taking a mark in the grand final, meeting your idol, making a wish on your birthday candles – these are all examples of magic around us.
Prizes for the winning writers in each category include personal prizes as well as donations to their school!
The Barry Young River of Stories has been supported by the Albury Hume Rotary Club since 2003. This year, as it turns 21, the competition will be known as the Barry Young River of Stories in recognition of Barry’s long term, continuing dedication to the competition.
