Events Overview

Welcome to the Write Around the Murray Festival for 2023.  All events, apart from the Short Story Awards, are live, in-person events.

View events via the Program page, the clickable Schedule or digital flipbook. You can also download a print-friendly PDF or pick up a program from the LibraryMuseum, Lavington Library, Dymocks, Hyphen, Quest on Townsend and various cafes and businesses in Albury.

Booking Process

  • Book Online: Click on the individual event from either the Program page or Schedule page for event details and booking links. The Book Now button will take you to the relevant booking site. Most events are booked through Humanitix. Humanitix charges a booking fee with profits funding education programs. Events hosted by Hyphen and MAMA are booked via their websites.
  • Book in person: You may book in person at the LibraryMuseum or Lavington Library.
  • Phone bookings: Fee-paying events must be booked online or in person as we cannot receive payment over the phone.
  • Free events (only some free events require bookings where noted) may be booked online or by calling the LibraryMuseum on (02) 6023 8333

    Accessibility

    • All Festival venues and events are accessible. The Festival can provide the following services:
      • Auslan interpreters at author talks. We need as much notice as possible to arrange interpreters, preferably a minimum of 7 days.
      • Companion card accepted. Please advise us so we can arrange tickets for your companion.
      • Assistance animals welcome
      • Wheelchair accessible venues
      • Accessible bathrooms

    Refunds

    We are happy to issue a refund for booked events, provided you notify us or follow the self-refund process below, by Monday 11 September (i.e. 2 days before the Festival starts).

    Self-refund:
    You can cancel your booking up to and including Monday 11 September by following the process below. This will automatically process a refund to the credit card that was used to make the booking.

    • Go to the original booking confirmation email you received from Humanitix
    • Click ‘Update order’

    • Click ‘Refunds’ tab

    • Select which ticket/s you would like refunded and click refund
    • You will be sent a confirmation email once a refund is issued.

    FAQs

    Are there any livestreamed or online events this year?

    • All events, apart from the Short Story Awards, are in-person events.
    • We will audio-record many of the panel discussions and they will be available to listen to, free of charge, in the months following the festival.

    Can I drop in or do I have to book for events?

    • Most free events are drop-in events, no booking required.
    • Booking is required for some free events where noted. Refer to the event page on the website for booking details.
    • Tickets for author talks, panels and workshops may be purchased at the door if tickets are still available. It is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment, especially for workshops.

    Can I purchase tickets at the door?

    • Stereo Stories and Literary Lunch bookings close early for catering purposes and no tickets are available at the door.

    What if I book tickets and then can’t attend?

    • Note the refund section above.  Ensure you follow the cancellation and refund process to cancel your booking up to 2 days prior to the event and automatically receive a refund.
    • If you need to cancel a free event, please follow the same process.
