After viewing the Lemon-Scented Myrtle, on the right is another Lilly Pilly, the Scrub or Brush Cherry (Syzygium australe). This tree produces red to pink pear-shaped fruits at various times throughout the year and is found in all types of rainforests in northern NSW and QLD.
"Hi, my name is Ziggy and I am a Brush Cherry. I’m a proud member of the BWA. I’ve been here for a very long time. I have seen trees come and go. I even hear the whispers of people through my leaves. I’ve heard all the stories through the wind and soil, but this is a sad year."

The Scrub Cherry tree: "Hi, my name is Ziggy and I am a Brush Cherry. I’m a proud member of the BWA. I’ve been here for a very long time. I have seen trees come and go. I even hear the whispers of people through my leaves. I’ve heard all the stories through the wind and soil, but this is a sad year. You know about the Elm trees? What, you don’t? Well, they’re getting chopped down and replaced by Ginko trees. What will happen to them? Maybe they’ll be made into paper? Or books! A trees worst nightmare!
Imagine being stuck on a shelf, inside, in a library! All the dust and contact! Urgh. But imagine being a picture book, all the sticky and slimy hands on you. Urgh. But, lucky for me I’ve got beautiful cherries, so I’m safe for now. "
