Three speakers, two courses, one extra special literary lunch.
To celebrate 20 festivals of Write Around the Murray, this year we be featuring two books at our Dorothy Simmons Literary Lunch.
Jason Steger will converse with Rhett Davis about his novel Arborescence which was been shortlisted for the NSW Literary Awards 2026 and the Aurealis Award for Best Science Fiction Novel 2025. It is moving and surprising novel about social disconnection and climate change that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Also joining Jason in conversation is Johanna Bell. Her latest release, Department of the Vanishing, is an extraordinary blend of poetry, photography, collage and narrative verse that challenges all our ideas about the form of what we call a “novel”.
A two-course meal will be served along with a free beverage plus tea and coffee. Additional drinks are available for purchase. Books will also be available for purchase and signing.
*Please note that there is no reserved seating for this event. It is suggested that groups arrive early if they wish to be seated together.
This event is supported by Mantra and the Studio journal.
