In 2012, twelve people met for the first time at their local library in the rural and regional electorate of Indi in north-east Victoria, driven by a growing sense of despair about how their community was being represented politically. So began the Voices for Indi.
Join co-authors and Voices for Indi members, Denis Ginnivan, Karen Keegan and Alana Johnson in conversation with local writer Kate Rotherham as they recount how a rural community found its own voice, elected its own independent representatives, and inspired a national movement that is transforming Australian politics.

This event is an in-person book talk, held between livestream sessions of the Sydney Writers' Festival Live & Local program. The event follows on directly from 'Fifty Shades of Teal', in which Helen Haines, Simon Holmes à Court and Margot Saville examine the ascension of independent candidates and how they might shape our politics, in conversation with Barrie Cassidy. |
