Rachel McNamara

Rachel McNamara is an actor, director and teaching artist who lives and works on Wiradjuri country; Albury/Wodonga.  She trained at Theatre Nepean and upon graduating, joined the cast of Channel 7’s medical drama All Saints performing the role of nurse Frances Regan.

Rachel toured schools nationally with Brainstorm Productions (Brave Hearts, Misfits, Verbal Combat) before relocating to Seoul to join Latt Children’s Theatre, where she performed in theatres and festivals internationally under the direction of Roger Rynd (Five Fools, Twelve Animals, Shadow Thief). Closer to home, Rachel has performed in Hidden Cinema directed by Alyson Evans and What We Said for Hickey Koop productions. Rachel's Hothouse stage credits include Equation, The Dream, Rabbit Hole, Those Who Fall in Love like Anchors Dropped Upon the Ocean Floor and Embers. Later this year she will perform in All the Shining Lights– an intergenerational story that centres on the Uiver landing.

As associate artist at Hothouse theatre, Rachel facilitates Co:LAB; a pre professional training program for emerging performers and theatre-makers aged 16-24. Rachel is also a teaching artist for the Sydney Theatre Company, running professional development for teachers in process drama-based literacy learning strategies.
