The Things We Love

‘The Things We Love’ give shape and meaning to our lives.

In this life-changing and challenging moment in time, where fears easily overwhelm and too often triumph in public discourse, it feels important to take a breather and reconsider the power of what and how we love.

What we love makes life worth living, though not necessarily easy. What we love has the power to mobilise and motivate us, and at times, devastate us. The people, places and things to which we give our time and attention engage us intimately with the complexity, diversity and challenges of life. They demand our courage, resilience and creativity.

In WAM’s fifteenth year we again invite you to join us as we celebrate the labour of love that is writing and storytelling, with a mix of live and online events. To explore together with humour and heart, to listen with respect and curiosity, as we reflect on the shape and meaning of our lives and loves through the lens of great storytelling.

We’re thrilled to be gathering some of Australia’s greatest storytellers for Write Around the Murray 2021 to share their words and music, their stories and reflections. Authors include Emily Maguire, Sofie Laguna, Leigh Hobbs, Anita Heiss, Jock Serong, Rick Morton, Delia Falconer, Judy Horacek, Pip Williams, Campbell Mattinson, Ursula Dubosarsky and many more.
