This year’s 2021 Write Around the Murray festival theme, The Things We Love, holds tribute to the people, places and things we love, in all their complexity and diversity.
In light of the current environment, the WAM team are managing the uncertainties that come with planning a festival during a pandemic. Until recently, we felt quietly optimistic about delivering a jam-packed festival with the best of both the live and livestream worlds.
We’ve pushed the program release back one week while we consider the best way forward. We're aiming to deliver what we can, live and online, with consideration of everyone who plays a part in WAM. Despite being a small festival, that is quite a considerable list of people and organisations, including of course, you, our beloved audience. And we know everyone is feeling the challenge of this time, to varying degrees of intensity and severity.
If there’s one overriding theme that has emerged through this pandemic, it’s the realisation of how connected, interdependent and valuable each and every one of us is. What do you value? What kinds of connection are important to you? The Things We Love invites you to take a step back from the fray and reflect on these questions.
For five days across Wednesday 15 – Sunday 19 September, the festival will be reshaped to cover all bases with a mix of both live and online events. Local audiences and those further afield can be assured that WAM will proceed, with a reduced program if necessary, and an excellent line up of presenters. Wherever you are and whatever the state of play, we look forward to you joining us.
Stay connected to the things you love, including WAM, as we do our best to deliver something we know you’ll appreciate!
There’s a lot to love surrounding this year's festival program, to be released on 12 August.
