Fiction stands tall in a program that celebrates creativity and storytelling in all its forms. Our program will comfort, challenge, inspire, delight and excite. Find out more
Program Launch: A Man Called Yarra
What better way to launch our program than to present Stan ‘Yarra’ Yarramunua’s inspiring story of overcoming hardship and striving for a better life.
A charismatic Yorta Yorta man who grew up with an alcoholic and abusive father, Yarra had a rough and sometimes homeless childhood and was in and out of trouble constantly. He too became an alcoholic, before swearing off the drink to become a highly successful Melbourne artist, actor, musician, businessman and charity worker.
As Stan’s biographer, Robert was entrusted with the great responsibility of helping Stan translate into written form, the extraordinary and sensitive stories that made him who he is. In conversation with Robert, Stan shares stories from his life and talks about survival, success and his deep love for family.
A Man Called Yarra will be available for purchase and signing.
This is a free event at the LibraryMuseum and incorporates the launch of the 2018 Write Around the Murray Festival Program. Programs will be available and bookings open for festival events.
